This winter make sure you and your employees are staying safe with some of the following tips!
- Regularly clear snow/ice from all walkways and parking lots. Use a sand or salt mix to reduce the risk of slip, trip and fall injuries.
- Maintain work vehicles. Ensure regular maintenance is performed (fluid levels topped up, emergency roadside kit, and journey management plans).
- Educate workers on Cold Hazards. Make sure your employees can recognize the symptoms of:
- Frost Nip/Frost Bite
- Hypothermia
- Indoor Safety – make sure floors are not wet, use caution signs to alert people to the wet floor hazard.
- Wear layered clothing – allows workers to adjust their protection based on temperatures and conditions. Provide ice cleats to prevent slipping on icy ground conditions.
